What is Business Value Planning Services (BVPS)?
BVPS is designed to help customer Business Decision Makers (BDMs) develop a plan to leverage the strategic value of the Microsoft Information Worker (IW) platform by improving an impactful business process, working with the customer to document, analyze, optimize, justify, sequence, and propose a plan to improve their business using Office System. This is a reliable, repeatable process for certified BVPS partners like Blum Shapiro Consulting to conduct, and be compensated by Microsoft for 3, 5, 10 or 15-day engagements according to the level of their customers’ Software Assurance benefits.
Microsoft Business Value Planning Services (BVPS) is a software assurance benefit for customers. It is a pre-defined paid service offering delivered by Blum Shapiro Consulting to help customers identify ways to leverage their investment in the Microsoft Information Worker (IW) technologies to improve business processes. This service offers customers a 3, 5, 10 or 15 day engagement based on their individual software assurance benefit level. Customers work with Blum Shapiro Consulting to document, analyze, optimize, justify, sequence, and propose a plan to improve a customer’s business process by leveraging IW technologies.
3-Day Engagement: The 3-day BVPS engagement is designed to provide a customer with a better understanding of the current state of a given business process and potential ways to improve that business process using IW technologies. During a 3-day BVPS engagement, you will target a single customer IW business process and develop Current State process documentation and analysis, Future State process documentation and analysis, Future State Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Improvement Analysis, and Adoption “Roadblock” and Mitigation Analysis.
5-Day Engagement: The 5-day BVPS engagement incorporates all aspects of the 3-Day BVPS engagement, but includes two additional key components: a quantitative business case to justify moving from the current state to the future state, as well as a high-level implementation plan to move the customer forward. During a 5-day BVPS engagement, you will target a single customer IW business process and develop Current State process documentation and analysis, Future State process documentation and analysis, Future State KPI Improvement Analysis, Adoption “Roadblock” and Mitigation Analysis, Future State Process Financial Benefits and Costs Analysis, and Future State Process Improvement(s) Implementation Plan.
10-Day Engagement: The 10-day BVPS engagement provides both partners and customers with additional opportunity to dive deeper into a business process improvement analysis and investigate two interdependent business processes, effectively broadening the scope of a 5-day BVPS engagement. During a 10-day BVPS engagement, you will target two (2) customer IW business processes and develop Current State process documentation and analysis, Future State process documentation and analysis, Future State KPI Improvement Analysis, Adoption “Roadblock” and Mitigation Analysis, Future State Process Financial Benefits and Costs Analysis, and Future State Process Improvement(s) Implementation Plan. The two business processes should be interrelated and require a detailed analysis of one in order to analyze and propose improvements to the other (e.g., to effectively analyze a company’s new employee on-boarding process, the customer also requests an analysis of their recruiting process).
15-Day Engagement: Similar to the 10-day BVPS engagement, a 15-day BVPS engagement allows a partner and customer to broaden the scope of a BVPS engagement to address three interdependent business processes. During a 15-day BVPS engagement, you will target three (3) customer IW business processes and develop Current State process documentation and analysis, Future State process documentation and analysis, Future State KPI Improvement Analysis, Adoption “Roadblock” and Mitigation Analysis, Future State Process Financial Benefits and Costs Analysis, and Future State Process Improvement(s) Implementation Plan. The three business processes should be interrelated and require a detailed analysis of one in order to analyze and propose improvements to the others (e.g., to effectively analyze a company’s new employee on-boarding process, the customer also requests an analysis of their recruiting process and their internal headcount allocation process).
